    That They Might Have Joy

Evie Clair would like to share an intimate new album of sacred hymns, close to her heart, with simple original arrangements of beloved, classic Christian hymns and sacred songs that bring her joy. Her husband, Clancy says,

“You couldn’t get an album that more closely resembles the experience of Evelyn sitting at the piano in her living room singing to you personally.”

Evie Clair, now Evelyn Thomas and her husband, recently posted about the coming birth of their first baby. The gentleness of these 15 songs makes them feel like lullabies in honor of that announcement. They come directly from her heart and speak to the listener’s soul about the love she has for God and her relationship with Him. Other album themes include kindness, gratitude, the Savior, peace and families.

The album title “That They Might Have Joy” comes from a beloved scripture passage, “Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy” (2 Nephi 2:25) embracing the idea that we exist to find true and lasting Joy no matter our circumstance. It was a belief her father held even through the difficulties of a painful death from cancer. She added a remastered version she sang the year he passed away of his favorite hymn “Be Still My Soul” ending with the lyrics, “through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.” He taught her to hold to the things that wouldn’t fade with passing trends, but to fill her life with things that bring eternal joy.

Evelyn wanted to share these sacred lyrics and melodies of Jesus with others as a testimony of the joy she has found so that they, also, might have joy and internalize the true source of it.

Special thanks from Evie to a few beloved people who contributed to this album including Kirra Abplanalp, Charles Mann, Bailey Jolley, Phoebe Morris, Christy Mann, Michael McLean and Pamalee Mann.

  • Hymn Mash Up

    Hymn Mash Up

Later this week the beloved singer/songwriter, Evie Clair, will become Mrs. Evelyn Thomas. Her heart is definitely set on the tall and handsome Clancy Thomas but lately has also turned more to God. She has been working on reviving some of her favorite hymns and spiritual music. She revealed to her family recently that her favorite types of gigs are ones where she can share her spiritual journey and sacred music.

Fans weren’t expecting a new music video from Evie to drop on her YouTube channel just days before her wedding since she hasn’t released a professional video since “Talking” 10 months ago. She gave no hints about the this new video, but fans we’re thrilled with one commenting “Just what the world needs” and another “This was so beautiful. Got chills the second I hit play. God bless and Merry Christmas.” They also loved that she included her little sister Kirra Abplanalp and her Aunt Christy Mann’s beautiful accompanying cello.

With video direction and production by Tanner Blackburn and audio engineering by Stephen Moyer, this was most likely Evie’s last opportunity to work with Arizona friends as she will be staying in Idaho to continue her education and start her new married life.

She doesn’t have plans yet on how or if she will pursue her singing career moving forward but she will never stop singing praises to God.

A comment recently left on one of Evie’s videos reads: “There is a disarming gentleness and quiet strength to this child that is truly human. She is not your normal performer with goals, agendas and ambitions. She has so much past, so much insight into the sum total of human suffering, so much humanness to offer those who live in human frames but have either lost the knack or have never known what it is like to be both gently strong and strongly gentle.” -Arjuna Seneviratne

  • Trash

    Trash

Evie Clair’s final summer collaboration is a new single with some of her favorite people in the world – her siblings. Evie is a little like Billie Eilish with a brilliant older brother like FINNEAS. Porter is her older brother and currently serving a church mission but was home because of the pandemic for just long enough to help write this song. Kirra is their younger sister. She appears in the video playing the trash drums and she also helped write this song. At the end of the song you can hear their mom say “Ya, good, it’s good. Wow guys.” That response was her authentic and original response when the 3 of them performed it for her for the first time at home. Since then their mom called it the “Trash Song” even though a better title might have been “I’m So Here.” Trash as a theme stuck and we created a video based on trash and the idea that they work so hard on this music while still feeling it just isn’t good enough. This song has a lyric in the bridge that says; “I’m writing and I’m bawling and these songs, they’re appalling, but I try and this trash, it’s for you; along with my heart.” These siblings truly love writing music together and love the people they write for – all of you.

    Lyrics

i don’t want to open my eyes cause this nightmare just seems so nice

i know that seems sad but really compared to real life

    cause you’re here

why is it so hard to express what i feel in my chest when you’re here

i sink in my thoughts and my words start to disappear

    when you’re here

and i know i’m slow with my flow but the only word you leave me with is whoa

so i just have to go with the flow when the only word you leave me with is whoa

cause i’m so so so so here

i just keep chasing that line in the sky not sure why but i’m fine

i know where it ends yet again you know why i’m here

    yeah i’m still here

and i know i’m slow with my flow but the only word you leave me with is whoa

so i just have to go with the flow when the only word you leave me with is whoa

cause i’m so so so so here

i’m writing and i’m bawling and these songs they’re appalling but i try and this trash is for you

    along with my heart

and i know i’m slow with my flow but the only word you leave me with is whoa

cause i’m so so so so slow with my flow but the only word you leave me with is whoa

cause i’m so so so so here

i find in time it’s all lethal and deadly or everything’s fine

    but i’m still here
